2019 PCI Convention and Precast Show
PCI in conjunction with NPCA held the Convention and Precast show this year in Louisville, KY.
The first part of the convention kicked off with committee meetings. Committee meetings are instrumental annual gatherings where PCI members discuss topics such as precast pavement, architectural classifications and marketing strategies as well as the direction industry we should take to move forward. The committees are comprised of producer members, associate members and academia.
Day two is a continuation of committee meetings with a highlight of the annual Membership Welcome Reception to wrap up the day. The reception is a great place to catch up with old friends and acquaintances and kick back with fellow industry professionals for some social time.
Day three is the wrap up of the committee meetings and the start of the education sessions which cover various topics such as marketing research and innovations in the industry. The annual PCI Membership Meeting and Luncheon is also held on this day and includes the “passing of the gavel” from the current Chairman to incoming Chairman. This year's incoming Chairman, Keith Wallace gave a unifying speech about the great strides we’ve made as an industry and how far we still have to go. Also on this day is the official opening of the Precast Show. The countless exhibitors never fail to impress with their diversity and depth of products and services.
Day four is a continuation of both the education sessions and a the Precast Show. The highlight of Day 4 is the PCI Design Awards reception and banquet. The design awards are great examples of what our industry has to offer and the many ways we bring quality and value to owners through a superior and durable product. We would like to congratulate Gate Precast for winning the Best All-Precast Concrete Parking Structure with the submission of the University of Mississippi North Parking Structure.
The last day of the convention includes the wrap up of the Precast Show and the annual Board of Director’s Meeting. The highlight of this year’s Director’s Meeting was the delivery of two Mardi Gras King Cakes courtesy of Matt DeVoss, President of Jackson Precast and PCI Gulf South’s Regional Representative to the Board of Directors. Also a highlight at the Board meeting was the recognition of Jim Voss’s (JVI) 100th Board meeting. Jim has been very instrumental in the formation of the PCI Foundation and an invaluable advocate for student education. Thank you Jim!
As always, the convention went by too fast. The 2020 convention will be in Fort Worth, TX as we to continue the push the precast industry forward.
