On February 12, 2019, the state of Alabama, in concert with Auburn University, held the 62nd Annual Transportation Conference in Montgomery, AL.

With what appeared to be well over 1,000 attendees, the conference kicked off with comments from keynote speaker Jim Tymon, Executive Director of AASHTO and Perry Hand from Volkert, Inc. The conference offered over thirty six opportunities for educational sections over the two day event. Attendees were given options on presentations from roadway design to bridges to multimodal transportation.

As always, the Governor's Luncheon was a big hit. This year, the Honorable Kay Ivey spoke about the need for additional infrastructure spending and the widely contested gas tax.

For the first time in the 62 year event, exhibitors were a part of the conference. There were 23 exhibitors present who represented everything from engineering design companies to associations like PCI Gulf South.  The show floor was full and it was encouraging to see. Many attendees mentioned that they liked exhibitor aspect to the conference.

PCI Gulf South always enjoys the opportunity to meet up with industry colleagues and make new contacts.
