Background

Manchester Middle School was originally built in the 1960s and the need was determined to remove the existing building and replace with a new, modern structure using precast. Tindall’s Virginia Division provided a series of precast, prestressed concrete wall panels for the 139,000 SF structure which included over 40 general classrooms, science and tech labs, as well as flex spaces, a full gym, 600 seat auditorium, and 400 seat cafeteria. The architectural wall panels were manufactured with thin-set brick, pigmented concrete with sandblasted or acid-washed finish for a modern aesthetic. The replacement includes 264 panels with approximately 59,7000 SF panels.
