The Mid South ACI Chapter, in conjunction with the MS Concrete Association, held the Spring Symposium in Jackson MS on April 3rd at the ABC Building. Warren Sawicki, President of ACI Mid-South Chapter and Tripp Hammett, President of MS Concrete Association welcomed the attendees followed by Joe Wolfe of GCP Applied Technologies kicking off the presentations with an overview of their In Transit Concrete Management systems. Other notable topics included research related to soil-cement and mechanical properties of concrete, integral coloring systems, ACI Certification programs, a review of disaster assistance and “ Good Samaritan” laws across the country. Tim Cost offered a glimpse into the future with a talk on the future of cementitious materials. PCI Gulf South was on hand to speak about precast prestressed pavement slabs as this solution is gaining traction around the country. We offer our appreciation for the opportunity to present this worthy topic at the annual symposium.
