PCI Committee Days proceeded on a virtual platform with meetings spread over a three week timeframe. Some of the more notable takeaways include:

Prestress in a box will be updated to reflect new industry information, building codes and bridge design material. These modules are a great tool for university professors who teach prestressing.

The precast-prestressed industry had a banner year in 2019. Sales for our industry were 6.17 billion which was an 8.07 % increase from 2018. Although the construction industry was headed for a “natural” downturn, the pandemic is making it happen faster.

The Pile Producers Committee is currently working on a pile presentation for marketing purposes. It is hopeful that in early 2021 the presentation will be available for a webinar.

PCI has two new initiatives. The first is the new How Precast Builds website which is specifically geared toward engineers, architects, contractors and owners. A full microsite has been developed and dedicated to this initiative. The second is the Learning Management System that PCI is employing. This will allow designers access to PCI’s large amount of technical information in seminar and webinar fashion to gain knowledge and PDH’s.

PCI and the Regional Council’s webinar series has been a hit so far this year garnering over 15,000 registrants and attendees.
