With a growing trend among young people to forego a traditional college degree in lieu of mastering a trade, the Craft of Construction at the University of Mississippi drew over 200 students from both the university and high school level. Vendors, contractors and design companies were in attendance to offer a full spectrum of what the construction industry has to offer. It’s gratifying to hear students share their interest in learning a trade such as a carpenter, electrician or welder, as well as learning how to estimate and/or project manage. These are the skills needed more than ever in the construction sector. PCI Gulf South engages in these hands-on student centered events because we recognize the future viability of the industry rests on the shoulders of this up and coming talent.
